2019 Back2Back Swim Camp

Back2Back Swim Camp is a 2-day elite backstroke-specific camp. The 2019 camp will have a West Coast Camp in San Diego, CA on September 7-8, 2019 and an East Coast Camp in Washington, DC on September 14-15, 2019.

Each Back2Back Swim Camp is limited to 60 swimmers maximum who meet the qualifying time standards (see below). Back2Back is a day-camp only and the registration price is $529 per swimmer (includes free Back2Back t-shirt and swim cap).

2019 Back2Back Qualifying Time Standards (sc yards and lc meters):

  • Girls 1:01.49 or faster (100 back short-course yards) or 1:10.99 in long-course meters

  • Boys 57.49 or faster (100 back short-course yards) or 1:06.99 in long-course meters

West Coast Camp (San Diego): September 7-8, 2019 (Saturday & Sunday), 11:00am to 3:00pm both days, Coggan Aquatic Complex, 800 Nautilus St, La Jolla, CA 92037

East Coast Camp (Washington DC): September 14-15, 2019 (Saturday & Sunday), 11:00am to 3:00pm both days, The St. James, 6805 Industrial Rd, Springfield, VA 22151

Camp Limit: Back2Back is limited to 60 swimmers nationally who meet the qualifying standards. Registration is first come first serve and will fill up fast.

Price: $529 per swimmer / includes a free Back2Back t-shirt and swim cap

2019 camp overview

Day 1: 100 backstroke

On Deck:

  • Welcome to the Back2Back Swim Camp

  • Meet Olivia Smoliga

  • Race Video Review: Racing the 100 backstroke, by Olivia Smoliga

  • Warm-up and Stretching for the 100 backstroke led by Olivia Smoliga

In Pool:

  • All swimmers will go through Olivia's specific warm-up and stroke drills for the 100 back

  • MAIN SET #1: A race pace set specifically for the 100 back

  • Watch Olivia Smoliga race a 100 back in-person and up-close

  • RACE TIME #1: All swimmers will race 1x100 back, in heats, times recorded

In Classroom:

  • Nutrition & Recovery Talk: Led by Olivia Smoliga & Jacob Pebley

  • Recovery snacks and lunch will be provided

  • Open Q&A for all swimmers

  • Day 1 done!

Day 2: 200 backstroke

On Deck:

  • Intros and Day 1 review

  • Meet Jacob Pebley

  • Race Video Breakdown: Strategies for the 200 backstroke, by Jacob Pebley

  • Warm-up, core and ab exercises: Jacob's pre-practice routine

In Pool:

  • All swimmers will swim Jacob's specific warm-up for the 200 back

  • Jacob will teach all swimmers his specific body position drills for the 200 back

  • MAIN SET #2: All swimmers will train alongside Jacob for a 200 back race pace sets

  • RACE TIME #2: "The Jacob Pebley special :)", in heats, times recorded

  • Special treat: Each Back2Back Swim Camp closes out with a team game

In Classroom:

  • Goal setting for 2020 and beyond: Led by Olivia and Jacob

  • Recovery snacks and lunch will be provided

  • Photos, autographs

  • Day 2 done!

Back2Back Swim Camp provides swimmers the opportunity to practice and race with the two best backstrokers in the USA and is limited to only 60 swimmers nationally who meet the qualifying time standards.
